First industry role: IT infrastructure and security work at a Sri Lankan technology firm. Audited systems, tracked compliance gaps, and built scripts that reduced manual device-health checks.

First industry role
This was my first industry role, back in 2023 in Colombo. Premium International Technologies is a Sri Lankan tech firm, and I slotted into their IT infrastructure and security team for the summer.

Security audits
I ran system security audits, analyzed network activity, and identified compliance gaps. When the gaps were real, I implemented the corrective actions alongside the senior engineers so the fixes actually made it through to production.

Automation scripts
The piece I am most proud of from this role is a set of automation scripts for device health checks and security verifications. Manual oversight dropped by about thirty percent once those were running on schedule, and the team could redirect that time to work that actually needed human judgment.

What it gave me
My first real exposure to how an engineering team moves day to day, how standups actually work, and why documentation is not optional. A lot of what I have done since sits on top of that foundation.
